What are you thoughts on Neti-Pots?
Sun Oct 2, 2011 4:18:32 pm

Woke up two nights in a row with trouble breathing and itching eyes. It seems like allergies to me especially since I don't have dark green colored mucus. (It's more yellow to clear) Anyways, I have purchased a neti-pot and I'm about to use it. I heard of one man dying because the water wasn't purified.

I'd never heard of a net-pot until just now. Looks easier than trying to snort saline, at least.

Did you purify your water first?

Hopefully not relying on the "purity" of bottled water.

Neti pots are fine, but it is important to be aware that symptoms experienced in the upper respiratory system may be a sign of something wrong somewhere else.

If you use plain water you should put in a dash of salt to make it slightly saline -- too much will irritate the membranes. I've used it when I get a stuffed nose in the Winter.

I've been to two different doctors for the cold earlier and they all said that it was all in my head so to speak, and this feels different than the cold as it's more itchy than painful. The guy I hung out with owns three cats and I was sort of thinking that I may be allergic to his place. (Though we were only there for 20 minutes before we left for dinner) I hate cats. But that is a different post altogether.

Disregard anything that a practitioner of orthodox Western medicine says about a cold. There are reasons why a cure doesn't exist, but I'm not in the mood to explain.
