hail the pages turning

once again everything is up in the air. i'm finally making an effort to bring it all back down, but it's kind of overwhelming. i've got quite a lot on my mind - acquiring a job, living space, not knowing how long i'm even going to be in the fucking country - along with all the minutiae i have trouble keeping track of even on a good day. knowing all this crap i have to sort out and not really knowing how is giving me a fair amount of anxiety.

on a happier note, Timmy will be here in 5 weeks, which has given me impetus to find a place to live that is not my parents' house. it's a good thing i've got his visit to look forward to, because this shit is wearing me out - i've spent over three weeks trawling craigslist, emailing and calling people, trying to keep all the information organized, and making multiple trips up to New York & north Jersey. this was so much easier last summer.

but now i'd better go to bed. i've got to leave in 7 hours to see 6 more places up north. blargh.

What is wrong with the places that you have looked at?

I have thought about doing that too, but we don't have good places to park them in New York.

That seems a little high for what you'd be getting...

Being near water makes me urinate a lot.

I already have some experience with urinating off a boat.

mostly incompatibilities with the people already living there. one place had electrical problems and blacked out twice in the 15 minutes i was there. one house was really nice, but the owner chose someone else. some were a bit out-of-the-way, and a few had an inadequate layout (no door on the bedroom, for one).

I never had such issues when looking for an apartment.

did you look for apartments that were to be shared with people you did not yet know?

No.
there you go. i can't afford to live by myself around here, and i don't know anyone who would want to share an apartment with me.
