Possibly no train service today
Thu Nov 17, 2011 4:11:31 pm

I saw one report of plans for Occupy Wall Street to interfere with subway service today, but there doesn't seem to be any mention of it on their Facebook page. If it's true, it's probably a very bad decision. This will likely cause them to lose support from people who are inconvenienced by it. It will also not hurt the 1% much. They may lose some revenues for one or two days, but they will just make it up by charging higher prices or skimping on Christmas bonuses.

Also, the 1% seldom ride trains. This reminds me of the time when I caught my client on the train. She is a multimillionaire and appeared visibly embarrassed. She immediately started justifying her ride on the train and mentioned how JFK Jr. rode on the trains all the time. I was amused.

She is from a lineage of many generations of tremendous wealth. I agree with "eww", but I understand.

I was planning to use the train to go to work. I might not be able to return home if they really do this.

Sometimes. My client has a private driver, but he was driving her husband to the airport at the time.

I understand it intellectually, but I do not empathise.

Where will you stay if you are homeless tonight? I will go to my mother's home if necessary.

Found it on their website: http://occupywallst.org/action/november-17th/

Their plan is to spread their message throughout the city. Which will, of course, interfere with service. Unless they plan to stand around the exits and make sure there's an open path? Although it's hard to control a large group.

Will be interesting to see what happens. They did manage to delay the opening of the exchange by 15 minutes.

I can't answer that without revealing some secrets that may get me killed.

Looks like they will stop for dinner. I might be able to escape Manhattan while they are eating.

That doesn't sound like they're planning to stop trains... some delays, and some people will be pissed off, but I don't think it's the same as "might not get home"...

Yeah, I think it's less a question of the protestors stopping trains than it is of the CITY stopping trains or closing stops to try to quell the protest.

Some things were revealed directly to me, some were observed, and some were inferred.
