than the belief in oneself?

I can't argue with this.

I am also frustrated that my knee-jerk reaction is to think it hokey... Like that really kind of upsets me.

I pray to myself all the time, but my prayers often go unanswered. I'm sure it's all part of some greater scheme by me... I hope.

Interesting. Yeah, sometimes me knows better than I do about how an outcome is achieved. Kind of spooky, really. Like having someone else pulling your strings. If you are going to pray, I'm not sure if it matters much whether it is to yourself, or to anything else you believe in; so long as you are satisfied with the outcome.

Why does it upset you?

I'm not being facetious at all. It's a sincere inquiry.

I find it frustrating because my initial thought it that it is "woo-woo touchy feely" and I want to dismiss it. However, if I think about it, I don't think it actually is...

So what if I went with my first inclination and just dismissed it? I don't like the thought of that result.

Nope. If you don't believe in, trust, love, etc. etc. etc. yourself....how can you feel this way about others?

I'm sure I sound like a dope but really, kind of seems like the most important part of the foundation of anything.

OP: Yeah, there is. I believe that we should believe in God. You can have confidence in your own abilities but as humans, we're all pretty limited and can come up short in some areas.

I'm a figment of my own imagination.

You must spend a great deal of time pinching yourself.

Fuck no!... err... I mean, pinching is very dangerous thing for figments to do. It's the divide by zero of dreams.

Overconfidence can sometimes be bad. That is my main issue with this concept.

I am God and I believe in myself.

Prinny prefers the god with the son over the god with the website.

If you don't feel it about yourself, how will you imagine that others are not lying when they say they feel it about you, too.

Most people I hang out with could do with a little more overconfidence, IMO.
