It's neither lupus nor panic.

I was awakened at 4:30 this morning by my heart. More specifically, by my heart thundering in my chest as though I'd just run ten miles. No bad dreams presaged this. It wouldn't stop racing. I called the advice nurse and she said to go in, because I was dizzy and shaky. They hooked me up to all different machines, but it had passed and as is the maddening way of arrhythmias, they didn't get much in the way of useful information.
This is the second or third time it's happened. It's an awful way to wake up.

This has to be very frightening. I hope they find out what it is and that it can be stopped.

Thanks. It was pretty unsettling. The ER doc told me that there is a not dangerous sort of arrhythmia and a dangerous one, but until they manage to catch it in action, there is no way to know which it is.

Hopefully they will take care of that soon. Until then, take care of yourself!

An idea that you might have already thought about: try to keep the times it happens written down. That way if there is a pattern it might tell your doctor something more.no image

Yes, they said to do this. ER doc also emailed my PCP and was going to see about getting me hooked up to a long term heart monitor for a few days.

That was what I was hoping might happen! They will figure it out.

Peanut butter toast. Nothing I've had a bad reaction to in the past. no image

I really hope so. It's getting a bit old.
