Applications and Interviews
Sat Jan 7, 2012 5:40:42 am
I have a friend trying to get a job after a long leave of absence due to hearing loss. His hearing has improved but he is trying to find something that does not require him to be on the phones, etc like his previous call center job.
Anyway, any suggestions on what he should put on his application and say in an interview as to why he left his last job? He feels he is not getting anywhere when they find out about his Leave.

I know he's gaining his hearing back but maybe he should investigate job listings appropriate for the hearing impaired:

If he is applying for jobs that don't require hearing, then the reason for leaving his previous job should not be a problem.

You would think so, but he is having issues. Whether the law protects it our not, the job market is so saturated that admitting to a disability usually removes you from the candidate pool.....
