Blog-Stalk Confessions: Children and other things with small minds...
Sat Jan 7, 2012 4:57:42 pm
I am spending the sabbath at my friend's house. I am not supposed to be using the electrical stuff but my friend doesn't mind so long as I make sure that the kids don't see.
We had dinner at a rabbi's house last night. It took about an hour to get to the inevitable discussions that I knew would try me. Nothing about me, fortunately. Just the usual conservative stuff combined with the usual orthodox jewish stuff. I learned stuff like why Obama is bad (because Hussain), why Jews are special (god said so) and why some old rabbi never used a fork (because he didn't want to stab things.). I bit my tongue repeatedly because these are people my friend has to see on an almost daily basis.
This morning, we took my friend's son to the doctor. A funny moment occurred when my friend walked out from the doctor's and, having forgotten to ask the doctor if the virus his son has is contagious, asked it a little too loudly in the waiting room and made all of the parents nervous. One parent actually jumped away from him with their kid.
That is all for now. Must go eat delicious foodstuffs.

You can turn it on prior to the sabbath, but then you can't turn it off until after the sabbath.

I have already gotten into a political discussion with my parents after having been home for less than 24 hrs. I have then bit my tongue the other 100 times because it's not worth it.
Hey look, I have only been home 3 days.
