6th post of the year: Superstitions

Koreans believe that buying lots stuff yourself before your baby is born brings bad luck. If you get baby articles from others it is okay, though. My aunt and some people her age still think that if you give baby products to people before they become parents brings bad luck. She was the only one whose birthday gifts for me and Christmas gifts for us were not baby related. Everyone else kept giving us lots and lots of useful, cute and weird stuff (weird because I have not figured out how to use two of the things yet). My mom has been knitting tiny baby clothes for a while and also got us a Maxi-Cosi (I don't know whether you also use that brand over there or there...it's a car seat for babies and kids) and many other small things. Two friends gave us really a lot of their used baby clothes and some other necessary things. We already got a cradle, bottles, some packs of diapers, baby oil, etc.
The only thing we bought ourselves so far with our own money was a pair of socks. Yet we had to make extra space for all the stuff we got from others and already have SO many things we're going to need soon. I did not expect this. I think this is pretty awesome. I am very thankful to each of those people who gave us some things and also to my aunt because in her own way she also tried to support us with following what she believes in and...cash for birthday and Christmas! They have all been bringing us good luck. :)

But what if my aunt reads this?! She might get a heart-attack or she might want to attack the sender of the mail...you should probably move to another place quickly if you really decide to send anything. *ahem*

NO! My husband is the kind one in this relationship. I am the evil one and they are all very scared of me. That's why they try to do what they can to not make me do bad things to them. Obviously. (Thank you, kind cookie baking teacher)

Hm. Perhaps I should move a place with more Asians, so it will be harder for her to pick me out!!!

I seriously doubt someone could call you evil.
