I think my neighbor is constipated
Sat Jan 21, 2012 3:15:41 pm
My neighbor seems to have some type of rare intestinal disease. I hear him going to the bathroom around 10 to 20 times a day, usually over a span of one to two hours. I have overheard him talking on the phone about the condition. It supposedly somehow relates to carbohydrates, but avoiding them hasn't solved his problem. To activate his bowels, he usually paces back and forth a lot. Occasionally, he switches from pacing to very noisy rhythmic stomping. I'm not sure if it's dancing or exercise. I suspect that he does this when the pacing fails. He is doing that very loudly now and the entire house is shaking.

That would not be a pleasant experience on your or his end.
I hope you get some quiet soon.

Wow. You must have very thin walls.
I could never live in a shared type building again. It's bad enough to have people actually living with you.

Ear plugs?
I have an ear protection device that looks like headphones. It makes my ears hot if I wear it for too long. That also does not deal with the vibrations in the floor, but the artificial earthquake is over for now.

I lived in cheap apartments that had stick thin walls. You could hear people walking around upstairs. Drove me freakin' crazy when I was trying to sleep, it wasn't rhythmic at all. Also, I would think if he had to frequent the bathroom often, that would not be defined as constipation - more like diarrhea. Unless it's unproductive and he just feels like he has to go but can't. But when I've been constipated, it didn't really up the amount of trips to the bathroom.

I think it's often unproductive. I hear the toilet seat come down and he is flushing within 10 seconds. This is followed immediately by more pacing and apparently no hand washing.

Sounds wasteful of water - why flush if you didn't soil it.

Tenants don't pay the water bill in New York.

Maybe he should get a footstool and elevate his feet when he sits on the toilet.
