Twilight, Abridged
Thu Jan 26, 2012 12:03:05 am
So, Dave Ackerman is a comedian and "amateur" actor. He has this youtube channel where he gives "tips" on how to be funny. The tips themselves are actually quite useless, but his delivery of them is hilarious. To some. Like me.
Anyways, he's been doing this contest thingy, where he gives stuff away on Fridays, and I forget how you enter. His last giveaway had two winners. The prize was an "abridged" copy of Stephanie Meyers Twilight: New Moon. Abridged, in that he cut out every page of the book.
Well... watch the video.

Well that's sensationalized. I mean, they'll sell for a couple hundred bucks which is still nice, but they never even get close to that price range. That's just probably what some premium bookseller has them listed for.

I just checked that, Grim - I don't see one anywhere for less than 2k. More like 4-5k. Madness...
Also, is cutting pages out of books like burning them? (New okc match question, here I come.)

Ebay had one listed for $200 that didn't sell. You can get the first editions unsigned for under $100. They may be listed at those prices, but I cannot find an instance where one has actually sold for that much. I saw one for $600 that has not sold either. The single highest recorded price that I can find for one is $1100, and that was for a charity auction, which almost always drives prices up on these sorts of collectibles.

There's this things with autographs that grates on me, where perceived value and actual value can get so far apart from one another that people end up believing these ridiculous numbers.

Interesting.

As a librarian, I support creating art from books that are oversaturating the market. Burning, however, is wasteful. I'm sure I speak for the entire library world there. ;)Also, is cutting pages out of books like burning them? (New okc match question, here I come.)

If the choice is your life or the Gutenberg Bible, please die. If it's your life vs pretty much any other book, light it up!

He's clearly taking a shit, and she's weirded out by the fact that he's pooping in a place that isn't a bathroom.
