My dreams
Sat Jan 28, 2012 6:47:09 am

Crazy dreams last night / this morning. This is why I like sleep deprivation followed by a lot of sleep. So much happens in such detailed environs. It's way more exciting than my awake life, even when it's a bit disturbing. However, I know nobody really gives a shit about other people's dreams, as they are quite pointless.

In one, I (thought I had) met up with someone I had sort of been interested in for a brief time as a teenager, and we hit it off, and took it further. But later I noticed his appearance kept changing when I looked away - suddenly he had dark hair, then an Indian face, and then was back to what I remembered. I realised I didn't really know who this person was at all, and considered maybe I had been drugged. Meanwhile, strange people I hadn't noticed before (while distracted) had almost finished clearing my house of its contents. I was mostly upset about my camera having been stolen. I ran around a bit, trying to stop the last few people, asking them if they could just please give it back, but no.

In another, someone turned up at my house (the one I spent my teens in). I think they might have been a cousin. They had stolen a small plane and crashed it and needed to hide the parts so they wouldn't get in trouble. Nobody was home, and I knew we had some space under the house, so I said yeah, OK. People started to arrive with all these huge parcels wrapped in green cardboard. I went and unlocked the door to under the house and looked in to see a relatively well-lit space that was a lot larger than I had expected. Dad had clearly been doing quite a bit of work, and the stuff we had stored there was very neatly arranged aroudn the edges. Off to the right was a small opening that I went through, and passed through a small workshop type thing into another, even smaller room. It was really warm and glowing in the sunlight, despite there being two layers of carpet in front of its windows. I pushed them aside to find a narrow strip of windows, and pushed on each of the four purple panels to get them to opena nd let some fresh air in. The ceiling was so low you had to stoop to be in there, and there was a small built in carpet covered sofa on the outside wall, and a proper sofa serving as a bed. A very cute space - all reds and corals and purple and cream. I sat on the built-in sofa but found I didn't enjoy being in the room because the floor was slightly sloped towards one corner and that made me feel sort of ill.

In the last one, I also met up with someone from my past, with whom I have significantly more history (in real life) than the first guy. It was at a house quite close to a beach, and it was dusk; lots of blues and mauves and black silhouettes of trees. He was walking up the footpath towards the house, with some keys in hand, and I was either coming towards from the other direction, or already waiting at the gate. As he looked up, we made eye contact and it was full of Meaning. He paused. We exchanged awkwards hellos, but no more. My heart was pounding, and I was very anxious feeling, because this was a do-or-die moment and I had so much riding on it. He went through the gate and towards the house, not inviting me to follow. I blurted to his retreating back "I've thought about you almost every day for the last 8 years!". He stopped, partway up the stairs to his door, and exhaled, his shoulder sagging slightly. He turned and said "I'm getting married." I woke up very suddenly.

I'm putting this here mainly in case that last part turns out to be true.

I get vivid interesting dreams regardless of whether or not they are preceded by sleep deprivation.

Dreams are not meant to be interpreted, but the flotsam from the brains reorganization at night while you rest. Its like trying to reconstruct an orange from the peels and pits in the trash can...very interesting yet no orange in the end.

Yeah. That's unusual. More normally it's vivid landscapes, and very rarely do I play myself.

It's more the lots of sleep that follows sleep deprivation that leads to good dreams. Once I get above 8 hours, and then do the going back to sleep thing.
