Exit Couseling
Thu Feb 2, 2012 7:33:10 pm

So, they want me to complete exit counseling on my loans. Um, I'm on vacation status, not fucking exiting. No, seriously, I can't pay the loans back. I was told I have 30 days to complete it. Or what? Do I not exit? I would prefer that.

I hate owing so much money.

I don't know what that means.

It is just a formality that the government says they have to do. They will give you the amount you owe and tell you about how interest makes you pay more and stuff like that. It is not a big deal.
You know you can get an economical hardship if you don't make (what they consider) too much money.
If that does not work you can put them into forebarance (sp) and though interest still is added to the loans you don't have to pay them at that time.
The exit interview should advise you about those things, too.

You can avoid paying back your loans if you are willing to sit through a lecture?

You can defer your loans or put them in forebarance if you apply and qualify==the lecture is simply the place they tell you about this stuff.

Debt sucks... for those who don't have the government and college grants to pay their tuition, that is. I feel you like Mitt Romney feels for the very poor.

I just think it's stupid. Most people get summer vacations, yet I get kicked into grace period even though I've never had a summer vacation since starting medical school. I'm on vacation status until March 26th. I don't think my loans should go into repayment until then.

Well, I had all of that for undergrad and grad school. I'm not really complaining too much about having to be in debt. I'm just not ready to be in repayment yet when I am not choosing to be out of school. When it comes time to pay back loans, I have no problem doing so. I just haven't finished school yet and therefore I shouldn't be in repayment yet.
