Phone Consultations and Quitting Kendo
Thu Feb 2, 2012 10:58:28 pm
I have problems. Physicals ones. Among them, my shoulders. Mostly the left one.
I called my doctor in Parksville, who is most familiar with my physical problems, and told him about some persistent pain in my left shoulder that has been gradually getting worse. He asked me about any changes to my physical routine, and I mentioned kendo, but told him that the persistent pain has been getting worse since before I started kendo. I did have some problems with my right shoulder shortly after I started kendo, so I took it easy for a while and things cleared up. For the most part.
He remembered that he'd told me that I'd probably need surgery on my left shoulder eventually. He mentioned a "pretty good" orthopedic surgeon he knows that he would like me to go see. In the mean time, he'd like me to stop going to kendo, and get in with my doctor here in Victoria who should either get me back into physiotherapy or also send me off to an orthopedic surgeon.
Yaaaaaayyyyyyyy.... :/

Please msg me with the name of the orthopod on the island. The hospital in Lethbridge cut one loose and he ended up there. He must be retired by now, but he's AWFUL and you don't want to let him near you.

It'll probably be a couple months before I can get in to see him anyway.

Okay, good.
What are you going to do instead of kendo? Running is easy on the shoulder, I guess.

I have a clicky feeling in my right shoulder, might need surgery one day.

Keep up my usual gym routine, but cut out some of the upper body/strength training I've been doing. Until I go see my doctor here, I don't really know what else to do. What are you going to do instead of kendo? Running is easy on the shoulder, I guess.

Probably a good idea.
