10 Hours Sleep?
Tue May 4, 2010 3:42:31 am
If I go to bed right now, I could get 10 hours of sleep. There are other useful things that I could be doing right now, but I am too tired and can't focus, because I got up extra early this morning. The problem is that something in me refuses to go to bed so early. I think it might be my inner child rebelling. When I was young, I was required to go to bed at 9PM every night while the rest of the family stayed up.

But it was almost 11. I am the same way though. If it's "too early" I refuse to go to bed, even if my body really needs the sleep.
Right now I am exhausted, but I won't be sleeping anytime soon.

I had trained myself to go to bed at about 8:00 for a while, before my sleeping schedule got messed up again. I'd like to do it again, because then I can be awake at my favorite time of the day.

I do too, but I still resist going to bed. I resist getting up too.

You didn't try to go back to sleep?

10 hours is even better, but I usually get that only once a year. I have opportunities for it once every few months, but I usually resist as I did last night.

I'd kill for nine hours on a regular basis. I get about four.

I would be dead if I only got four on a regular basis.

Why do you get up at 5?

Wed May 5, 2010 3:06:10 am
5 AM or PM?

I get my best sleep at 5AM.

You need to learn to clear your mind. I have some self hypnosis techniques I sometimes use when I have trouble sleeping. I can tell you if you want to try them.
Also, do you have plenty of fresh air in your room? Is it a comfortable temperature? And are you under more stress than usual?
Looking at the clock is a bad idea, too. That sounds like a silly thing, but waking up earlier than you planned and realizing it's too fucking early for this will only create frustration, which is not conducive to healthy sleep. Try turning your clock away so you can't see it from your bed.

I just fantasize about sex until I fall asleep again. Also, do you have plenty of fresh air in your room? Is it a comfortable temperature? And are you under more stress than usual?

This is the culmination of years of training in Tai Chi and meditation.

That would definitely not work for me. That would just put me in the mood for sex and being in the mood wakes me up.

I'm too tired at 5AM to be fully in the mood. Mild arousal is calming for me.
