Could be thrombosis
Wed Jul 21, 2010 5:07:49 am

The vein in the heel of my left palm is visibly elevated about an eighth of an inch and I feel a tickling sensation as the blood moves through it. It has been this way for the past three hours. Shaking my arm for several minutes has not caused any change in the condition. I don't feel any pain at the moment, but I am still somewhat concerned about this.

My mother had a much more severe version of this when she was pregnant. It happened in her leg and caused excruciating pain. I often wonder if this is somehow related to how messed up I am. My grandmother experienced this condition very often, at least once a week. She called it "twisting veins". It was always painful when it happened to her. She remained as still as possible until it passed, because she believed that sudden movement while it was happening could cause the vein to rip open. I have not found any Western medical condition with symptoms like this, and I'm wondering if it's a genetic disorder.
