Another NYC tornado?
Tue Oct 12, 2010 1:53:36 am

The winds are howling in a very unusual way and the lightning/thunder is abnormally intense. I don't see any official news reports about the weather that mention the current storm, but several people who I don't know have reported a tornado on Twitter. It sounds possibly close enough to tear apart my house.

I was in mid long island just a few minutes ago. It was a scary thunderstorm with lots of rain. That died down when I got to Queens.

I always miss the tornados when they do happen..I'm usually in the island when it does. Hope it's not a tornado for your sake.

The storm seems to have passed my area. I'm still not sure if there was a tornado, but it has been confirmed to be the most intense hailstorm ever in NYC in my lifetime.

That's intense. I've only ever experienced such intense weather when I lived in Texas. Hail the size of tennis balls. Once when I was traveling through Oklahoma, we were close to potentially tornado-spawning clouds, but I was too young to feel any sense of danger.

Extreme weather like this was very rare in NYC until a few years ago.

Currently, the thunder is crazy loud here. I will like sleeping to this rain. It's peaceful.
(Rain and thunder intense like in LI an hour and a half ago)

I usually like storms, but this was the type that I can't enjoy, because it seemed too probable that my house might fly away.

The storm went away earlier, but I hear thunder again.

It was exceptionally intense. I would not be surprised if I could hear it from your area.
