Back to work
Mon Nov 29, 2010 2:07:57 pm

Today will be a very difficult day for me. After getting a few days of rest, I need to gradually ease into work. That will not happen today. In addition to being a Monday, which means extra early wakeup for me, I have a full day of work which includes two emergency repairs. I generally try to reduce my work load on Mondays because the early wakeup impairs my cognitive abilities sufficiently to interfere with my ability to do my work properly. I have to focus with extreme effort on Mondays to avoid causing catastrophic irreversible damage. This could be bad.

Have you tried going to bed earlier on Sundays?

Did your work survive your tiredness?

Yes, but it doesn't help much. The problem is in the time of the wakeup and not in the number of hours slept. It's a circadian rhythm disorder.

Yes. The first emergency repair was for stupidity. The second was for a problem that I had fixed hundreds of times before and can fix it in my sleep.

Maybe some extra strong tea or something in the morning to boost your energy.

Stimulants are bad for me. They mess me up in a different way.

Even caffeine?

That is the only stimulant I ever tried. I should not have put "stimulants" in plural, although I was subconsciously referring to other forms of stimulation like irritating noises and cold weather.

Do you drink caffeine-free tea, then?

I tried several chemical stimulants when I was younger. They are not fun, and I don't know why anyone would continue to use them.

Most of the tea that I drink is "herbal", which naturally doesn't have any caffeine. The tea that I drink which has caffeine is white tea. That has very low levels of caffeine and is balanced by a high level of theanine.

I avoid all drugs, both recreational and prescription.

Unless you classify nutritional supplements and medicinal herbs as drugs.

I see. I've never really paid attention to the nutritional content of tea. To me, tea is tea, just different flavors.

Everything that you ingest has some effect on your body.

So do I, nowadays at least. I was never a junkie, though; it was the random experiments that are fairly common among disillusioned and/or naive teenagers.

I don't. "Nutritional" and "drug" have pretty much the opposite connotations for me. That is, one's good for you; the other is bad.

True, but I would probably only research the nutritional content of tea if I experienced an averse reaction to a particular kind.
