6 Degrees
Mon Jan 24, 2011 1:17:04 pm
It's 6 degrees Fahrenheit outside right now and the RealFeel temperature is -6F. I believe it's the coldest Monday since I started teaching at the hospital 10 years ago. I'm not sure if classes will be cancelled today. It should be, because I teach a group of seniors, and temperature regulation is not as good in the elderly. They could die or become seriously ill if they go out. The program coordinator isn't in the office yet. I hope it's cancelled. I don't want to go outside.

Why would you set your thermostat so low? I feel like I'm dying at that temperature.

It's not cold in here. I purposely turned it down to get it a little cooler in here. I also dress in layers. Many layers. For when I walk outside. It's more practical to leave the layers on than to take them off and put them on repetitively during the day.

Well, I guess if you have fewer students next time, you'll know why. :/
Did it get any warmer than that by the time you did your class?

Especially given that it's a hospital and you know, they're supposed to care about people's health, but (as far as I know) it's really unhealthy to work out in that kind of cold. It's hard on your respiratory system and your muscles and joints don't have enough blood flowing to them and you can easily injure yourself.

We did it indoors, but the students still had to go through the cold to get to the hospital.
