Added spin on sin...
by Peter Petterson
First published at Qondio:
The Vatican has overhauled its list of mortal sins. Traditionally, the Catholic Church has had a list of seven deadly sins - lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride - which was established in the 6th century. However, latter day "social" sins have been added to keep pace with the age of technology and globalisation:
1/ "Bioethical violations such as birth control
2/ "Morally dubious" experiments
3/ Drug abuse
4/ Polluting the environment
5/ Contributing to widening the divide between rich and poor
6/ Excessive wealth
7/ Creating poverty
I wonder if excessive wealth could be an impediment of the Catholic Church?

Great. More evidence that the Catholic Church considers itself the authority on Christian morality, even to the extent of making up a bunch of new rules which are, of course, hypocritical when one considers the contrast of #'s 5-7 with the economic disparity between the Vatican City and the rest of Rome. Not that the angle was not already covered by those original sins.
Also, the URL again.

There are several tons of gold inside St. Patrick's Cathedral. Looks like excessive wealth to me.
