Nike Exho
Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:56:00 pm

The first time I saw "exho", I thought it was a one time misspelling of "expo", but Maria Sharapova, or whoever administers her Facebook fan page, has spelled it that way several times. Every time I see it, I think of it meaning a former "ho", and this amuses me.

Also, the Facebook ads for "NYU Poly" makes me think of a polyamorous group for NYU students. It's actually for NYU Polytechnic.

I agree, though.

I thought it could be that, but Nike doesn't spell it that way on their site. They call it an "expo".

I think it is exhibition, actually, or slang for it, anyway. http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?p=10830270#post10830270

^That's the only result I found in the first few pages on Google, though, so I'm guessing it's not in popular use.

I found a few results like that and assumed it was misspelled because of how few results there were.

The reason that particular one made me think it's slang that just isn't in widespread use yet is because that forum post was listed under exhibition events.

I've never heard of Nike Exho, but that also first makes me think "former ho." That's funny.

NYU Poly, however, my first thought was Polytechnic, because I went to Long Beach Polytechnic High Shcool, and it was usually referred to as Long Beach Poly.

It probably one person who misspelled it exho, and then other people, not wanting that first person to feel like an idiot, just go along with it. It's how a lot of these things start.

NYU Poly totally sounds like a support group for polyamorous people in New York.

There are several different schools here with "polytechnic" in the name. I don't know anyone who has gone to any of them.
