I just got a call from my mother. She called from an unfamiliar phone number. I suspect it was from a payphone, which is quite odd considering that there is a thunderstorm in progress. She called to tell me that her home phone isn't working. My task is to call the phone company tomorrow to request a repair.
My brain doesn't work well on Mondays. I may end up cancelling my cell phone service or something worse.

You'll do fine. You shouldn't have to talk to anyone in India. Usually the repair lines answer fairly quickly, but you might have to be on hold for a bit. Do try to call the specific repair line, or listen for the online menu to tell you what number to press for repair. Make sure you have her account information handy to refer to; phone number, address, etc. Have it written down when you call so you can refer to it and not stress your brain.

i went to pay my cell phone bill and signed a new contract and now i pay $15 less than before.
this doesn't really help you though.

I have been getting intermittent internet connection again. This seems to happen with every storm. I just realized that this somehow included a surprise firmware update. The colors, fonts, and logos have changed in the modem's administration console.
