Most of my clothes were already blue
Tue Jun 7, 2011 11:11:42 pm
I checked all my pockets before dumping my clothes into the washing machine, but I somehow missed a blue marker. After the wash phase finished, I still didn't notice it. I'm not sure if the ink was neutralized/diluted or if it had not begun to spread significantly yet. The marker was still part of my laundry when I dumped it into the dryer. I noticed the blue stains at the end of the dry cycle. I could have started another wash cycle to try to eliminate or reduce the stains, but I just didn't care that much, and most of my clothes were already blue.

In my experience after it is dried you better just enjoy the stain. If not dried yet rubbing alcohol can reduce or eliminate the stain.

You could try Biz. It's a color safe bleach. A good, hot soak before you re-launder might help.

I have an ink stain on my sheets cuz there was a pen in my bed when i removed them and didn't notice. I realized when I picked the pieces of the pen out of the washing machine. Oh well.

The pen disintegrated?

I like this post. I have done the classic red-sock-in-the-white-wash drama, but luckily was washing a bundle of white baby sleepsuits for my baby girl (at the time) (she doesn't wear them now she is 9) so it didn't matter that everything was bright pink.

I have never changed my clothes a different color, despite mixing colors when I watch. I know plenty of people that have though.

I never separate my white clothes from the colored clothes and it has only caused discoloration once. It was caused by a purple shirt that somebody gave me. The white clothes acquired a very subtle pink hue. The clothes that I buy doesn't lose its color. Maybe it's because I exclusively buy athletic apparel.

Maybe. The red sock was a really cheap bright thing that belonged to my ex. What sort of a man wears cheap red socks? I should have seen the signs! I always separate clothes though. And I don't like washing white-coloured striped things (of which I have lots) because I always think they will run.

Not exactly a red flag, but close. (I know, groan.)
