Dream Log 08-10-09
Mon Aug 10, 2009 2:38:29 pm
I am with my sister somewhere in England. It's around 11PM, but the Sun has not set yet. Because it's so late, the trains are not running and we cannot go home. We go to rent a hotel room. In the lobby, there is a poster of Dora, which didn't seem odd to me at all. In the hotel room, I go online to see if there are any new comments on blog-stalk. I see that Bruxism has made new comments. She couldn't handle being without internet for so long and went to an internet cafe to get service. Her thumbnail photo was the original one with the circles around her eyes. My alarm woke me at this point.

The obvious part is that I miss her a lot. The less obvious part relates to the presence of my sister in the dream. I have two sisters. The one who was in the dream is the only person who I was close to when I was young. I was completely open with her and could enjoy doing the silliest things. No topic was too boring to talk about when it was discussed with her. We gradually drifted apart as we got older and I rarely talk to her now. I don't think of Dora as a sister, but I feel like I relate to her in the same way that I did with my sister when I was younger.
I think a couple of things are really interesting. It's 11:00 and really "late," but the sun hasn't set. This makes me think there's something in your mind that you think you should do, and time might be running out to do it, but you know there's still a window of opportunity left. You are in England, not the US, which might denote a mild sense of displacement, and your closest sibling and you "can't get home," even though if you were in England you would need a plane not a train to do that, which might show some almost insurmountable obstacle exists in your mind. Dora's involvement in the dream probably has more to do with some sense of loss than anything specifically to do with her, and she's simply the representation of that loss.

No idea. I just knew that it wasn't NYC and it wasn't anywhere around here. Maybe I will move to PA, and you will move to PA. :-p
Which part of PA? If it's close enough, I can visit often.

According to mapquest, it's 1:57 minutes (104 miles) away. I would be living the same distance from you as I am from my parents right now!

The lack of sunset is not necessarily as symbolic as you think. Real sunlight was shining through my eyelids during the dream and may have influenced that. However, the element of lateness is significant. It's too late for us to go home. It's too late to have the same type of relationship with my sister that I had when we lived in the same home together. Dora is in England and my sister has visited there many times for business. Dora is the loss.

That is not impractical to visit frequently.
