Not paying my bill today
Thu Sep 1, 2011 6:56:01 pm

I was planning to pay my National Grid bill online today, but they modified the site with information about the hurricane. I cannot find a link to log in or pay my bill. It might be there, but I'm not in the mood to waste time looking for it.

Did you find a link to that on the home page or did you search for it?

If you are still without power, please contact us at 1-800-465-1212 in New England and 1-800-867-5222 in New York.

Not sure why, but I find it funny that it is posted on their website...that you get to by computer, that requires power.

You had to scroll down and select the energy service and region to get to a login page. Maybe they don't mind if they get paid during hurricane cleanup!

People who don't have power may be looking at the site at work, or on a smartphone, or at a friend's house. :) I'm sure they figure it's better to put that line absolutely everywhere.

Chase and National Grid both have suspended payment due dates during hurricane cleanup.

Not yet, no.

They've basically suspended all payment deadlines. I mean, EVENTUALLY you'll have to pay.

I think hiding the payment button is a PR move on the part of a bunch of companies. In the middle of environmental destruction, they don't want to look like they're demanding your money.

... Wow! So, um. That explains why Chase said I didn't owe them any money last week. I was kind of confused.

That makes a lot of sense, I guess. Hadn't thought about it quite that way.

Yeah. They sent an email about it.
