Dream Log 09-02-11: The Blogstalk Dream
Fri Sep 2, 2011 3:01:55 pm

I am in a car that is being driven by some unfamiliar woman. The car seems ordinary, but it somehow holds an entire busload of Blogstalk members. The driver takes us on a journey to Michigan. Evilserif is the only blogstalk regular not in the car. We are on a journey to meet her. At some point, the car goes through the train station and gets into the train.

We eventually get to Michigan, but the driver doesn't let us get out. This was apparently a training session to teach us how to get there. The driver brings us back to New York and we have to go back to Michigan for the "real" trip.

The next day, we are on the train going into Manhattan. I tell the group that we should get off at Canal Street, because the driver said she would be in downtown Manhattan. The_grim_zipper disagrees and everyone else agrees with him, so I stay on the train. We get off at the next stop, which is Journal Square. (not an IRL stop on the subway) I am confused because I have been riding this train for years and never knew about this stop. It happens to be one of the train stations that we visited the day before during our training session, and I recognize it.

None of us clearly remember which train to take next. I do some research and figure out the route. The vending machines for train tickets refuse to accept money, but they print out tickets anyway. While we sit around waiting for the train, Rhodochrosite informs me that this was Saddha's idea. She had read somewhere about how to get free train rides, but these rides always involve significant inconvenience and confusion. We decide that it would be a good idea to create a reality TV show based on this which would be called "Lost For Free".

how do you know what everyone looks like? or are they represented by their icons? or names alone?

Most of them have shown photos of themselves at some point somewhere. For people who I haven't seen, the dream world takes care of that very efficiently. I just see a face without actually seeing it. It's hard to explain. It's somewhat like looking at a blurry face but it's not actually blurry.

Seeing only an icon or name would break the realism.

I post blogs and speak to blogstalk members in my dreams, but I don't meet them in real life. I want to experience this dream.

Yes, but I didn't want to write a novel. Omitted details were insignificant.
