on The Isle of Bute

re: comment#8
Thanks for all of the comments. I am new to using a blog to put my writing online and the feedback has been really useful. I will rework some of my new writing based on the comments.

I was experimenting with this piece about Bute, trying to be really sparing and removing unnecessary words, which may have led to it feeling a bit 'jumpy' in time.

I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. It is just the response I was looking for and has been motivational and constructive.
Do you write professionally or intend to in the future?

I like the way you write, although I found it a little difficult to follow, for it moves quite fast at times, “quicker than the eye” if such a feat is possible for text. Still the story was interesting. Almost brings a crimson smile to my monkey face.

on I Turned Off Google Instant

re: comment#1
I am not impressed with Google Instant. Also, I cannot see its utility to users who are not either search-and-destroy (a.k.a. hunt-and-peck) typists, or else those who do many Google searches which are best conducted as quickly as possible, such as a ChaCha researcher.
I finally saw it in action and I am also unimpressed. It looks like they wasted a lot of time on development for a useless feature and they will perpetually waste a lot of bandwidth/processor cycles/memory to do this.

on Another Piece of the 9/11 Story

re: comment#25
Wow, that was an excellent 9/11 story.

My maternal grandparents and step-father's parents both stashed cash within the home, a habit acquired by living through The Great Depression.

I want to tell my 9/11 story this year for the first time, but knowing me I might put it off again. It is not as readily adaptable to screen or script as yours, but still I want to tell it. Even if people think I am insane, or scuzzy, in light of the facts.
I especially want to read your story because you said there might be a possible interpretation of insanity.

How do you pronounce Bute? Just like cute with a B right?

Struan. hmm
Calum is hot name.
I like making names up, or think I make them up. Like Cael.
Calum is too much like Gollum.

That too. Don't like his themes, plots either. Then again, I don't like fiction at all. It's a waste of my time and brain power.

re: comment#3
I don't like Shakespeare's works at all. I hate that he rhymes and I can't.
I just dislike the use of a different dialect.

I totally forgot 9-11 was coming up. Brent's son's birthday is 9-11 and Sara's is 9-12 and Kristian's is 9-13. I've been too busy with my own life to be concerned about anything else.

I suck.
My sister's birthday is 9-12. Who is Kristian?

This is the view from the kitchen window with rectangles added approximately where the towers were.

I agree. Did you see them, or what was left of them?
Only on television. My mother was watching with binoculars and saw, but she wasn't absolutely certain that those were human bodies.

re: comment#14
Boy, this just reminded me of my mother. She's an emergency department nurse who was working at Bellevue hospital in 2001. The hospital's patients are usually police officers and firefighters. It's a trauma hospital so she told me of how most of the service men were dead, dying when they arrived. She told me of a firefighter whose head was completely smashed open, brain matter all over.
This reminds me of the jumpers.

I know..I do the same. Or forget altogether. Often the memory for me become like that version of 9/11 of mine, which is already watered down from years of not recounting it.
I just remembered that I already wrote about it before. http://blogstalk.com/blog/681/Another-Piece-of-the-9-11-Story/
