Thank you for taking the time to explain how it all works. I appreciate your comments and have taken on board what you said. I will not be posting purely about the new site as yes, this would be rather dull and a waste of everybody's time.

OK, I get the picture. To be honest I'm just a mum who's set up a part time business and quite chuffed with getting as far as a website. I thought a blog was a kind of diary and you post what's going on in your life. I understand if you want to delete it and actually you are quite right, I have no understanding of the psychology of marketing, but it wasn't just about that.
I did not delete it immediately, because I wasn't certain if your intent was purely to spam. It does seem that you might be just using this like a diary, which is the proper use of it. The main reason for doubt is because your first notable event recorded here involves the creation of another site. I will not delete this post right now, but I may if you never post anything else or if future posts are also solely about your new site or business.Wed Sep 15, 2010 4:45:19 pm

Also, it's clear you don't fully understand the psychology of marketing in a social environment. As a newcomer, you get assessed by everyone who encounters you for the first time. If you are perceived as a spammer, nobody will look at the site that you mention and they will probably ignore any subsequent posts that you make, because the first impression is that you are just a spammer.

You are advertising your site. It is interesting that you put blogging in quotation marks. This implies you may be referring to a specific type of blogging used for promotional purposes. The best way to make something like that work is to primarily post non-spam materials. If you occasionally mention some other site, that is not a problem. Making your first post about another site, and/or making every post about another site makes you just a spammer who does not contribute to the blogging community in any meaningful way.Wed Sep 15, 2010 4:28:36 pm

Good luck. This site has potential. Can people add their pictures and videos to their posts? If you can handle the sploggers, I could ask quite a few bloggers to come and visit. People would want to link to their other blog/s. Perhaps limited links would be possible?

Pictures and video can be embedded in both posts and comments by using HTML. peter
Links to their other blogs are fine if it's not done in a spammy way. For example, saying "this is my other blog" is fine. Extolling the virtues of another site or telling people that they can make money by joining is spam.

You can post links to your other blogs and any other sites you like on your profile page. Occasional self-promotion in the blog is permitted only if you have made a significant number of non-spam posts.
