The Beastie Boys were interesting.
Funny, you spoke of them in the past tense.

11. People can't be expected to explain such things to their children. I mean, what in blazes are they supposed to tell their kids? Simply that sometimes a man falls in love with a man, and sometimes a woman with a woman!? That might... GIVE THEM IDEAS

12. The gays are taking over! Not only have they been successful in legalizing all sorts of horrid acts behind closed doors, but now they want the freedom to remind us all of what despicable things they are doing by being openly married. It's time to take a stand, goddamnit.

Her English accent is obvious (quite prominent in her pronunciation of "ch"), but her cuteness makes it forgivable. Nice cover.

Great song! Huh: So Nena sings very well also in French.

As for the rest of the sound:

About 2 days before I made that comment, I imagined it. Don't think I ever have before, although I'd considered the possibility. It's just... funny, that's all. Here you are.

Also, if you knew who I am I don't think you would have taken me so seriously.

“If you want to marry a shoe, then I'll marry you.”
Not such an odd request now, is it?

I'm sure Starla would be positively thrilled to know that Blue is so free with discussing her mental health & personality.

I've met Starla. I regret not finding the time to talk to her at great length during our personal meeting - but I can tell you this: She's smart & clever & funny and a damn sight more mature than Blue could ever hope to be. She does not suffer fools. Not at all. Which is probably where the 'spiteful' bit comes from.

As far as being a 'person' and having 'worth' - well, you know, I'm reminded of the Gerald Kersh quote that there are some men that one hates, until a chink in their armor is revealed that casts them in a whole different light.

I have yet to see that.
Starla and Blue are both free about discussing each other's mental health and personality, so I don't see what would be so thrilling about it, but to be fair I know that about each of them only because of private conversation. I don't think either would mind me saying so here, though, or I wouldn't.

Your description of her matches my observations, except that I do not inequate the maturity of each.

That Gerald Kersh quote was a good way to put it, and I look for that chink in the armor. Well, maybe not with some. *mumbles* Provided I find some redeeming qualities whatsoever I will look for it. So, don't get me wrong, I do operate with a concept of "lost cause".

re: comment#17
Well - this will probably not happen - first off, because I ain't on OKC any more to rally folks together for the prank. And secondly, because trying to get a bunch of diverse individuals to all work together, even though they may be on the same general page, is like trying to herd anxious cats to a vacuum cleaner convention.

Also - I know, monkey, that you've previously expressed that Blue ain't all bad & has some good things to say - but I have to respectfully disagree with you on that one. The guy is bugfuck crazy & childishly obsessive to the point where I worry about those who have to interact with him in real life on a daily basis. There are few things in the world more potentially dangerous than an idiot savant that carries towering & irrational grudges - and one of these days, he's gonna have a serious meltdown. I, for one, am glad that there's a continent between us.
I respect your respectful disagreement, but I think it is due to the fact that your experience and interaction with him are more narrow in scope than mine have been, although far more extensive in verbosity I'm sure. What I tried wasn't agreeing with him about everything, but rather seeking things about him with which I could agree. And I don't mean his behavior when being crazy and childishly obsessive to the point of treating other people lousily. I confronted him many times about it, and will not hesitate to do it again.

When I got past my upset at his dysfunctional behavior I found that we do see eye-to-eye about a lot of things, but as you have noticed he is mentally ill. I don't hate him for that, and I don't fear him for it either. I pity him, and I'd like to see him get better. He is a person, and he has worth, but it is spoiled by malfunctions in his perceptions. I don't accept that people are static, because they obviously are not, even when, like a BB, or an AT, they are clearly somehow stuck.

It's funny... I once had an amicable conversation with him that included a discussion of Starla, whom he thinks is off her rocker and terribly spiteful. While I do not condone the way she has behaved at times, I thought it was an unfair and ignorant assessment of her. She clearly has dealt with her own lot of mental and emotional distress, and it affected her behavior, but I liked and quite agreed with her nevertheless, and I'm still glad I first e-met her ~5.5 years ago on somebody's OkC journal, forget who.

Wes, this reminds of a political science class I once took where we split into two groups, anarchists and socialists. Then, we were given a scenario for a revolution. The discussions in my group got really heated one day to the point where one of the guys exclaimed in disgust, "WTF? What do you propose then, to hug everybody instead of killing them to win the revolution?"

He stormed out of the room and we proceeded to plot his death with every kind of illness related to the word yellow.
If one of the guys was an anarchist, I'd like to point out that there are other kinds of anarchists.

I agreed with Blue once. He tried to get me to join the republican party.
I agree with Blue quite a bit, although that is not quite evident from the whole of my public interaction with him. That he tried to get you to join the Republican party, however, comes as a great disappointment to me. Really, he should fucking know better... , but he's too busy griping to make the connection, I suppose. That is to say that Blue knows the source of the problem, but for some reason, like a paranoid schizophrenic, oftentimes he sees it in the wrong place.

Ha! That would be epic. If I could make journal posts and comments without getting deleted and banned every 2 days, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I don't think much would come of it other than lulz, though. Knowing the arrogance of certain users, I figure they'd just think they finally swayed us with their compelling arguments.
